Welcome to the latest Medium Short, a weekly accountability practice highlighting what I am reading, writing, and doing along the unmarked trail towards #IndustrialHealing. This is a personal update — my (debatably) more professional writing is freely available through this link.

I’m feeling the heat. The power came back on last Friday which meant I could stop sleeping in my snow pants and toque. Now I’m in Toronto where there is a heatwave. More to the point, I’m delivering a workshop at the end of this month on Matereality. Along with promoting the workshop and designing the content, I’m finishing up the fifth assessment, on global mining and energy company Glencore, that will be explored in the workshop. It’s all heating up on me.

Here’s the week that was.

Reading: energizing

The topic of “energy” is big. Parsing the complexities of one of the world’s largest mining and energy companies in relation to an economy that works in service of life is exponentially ginormous.

Screengrab from Glencore’s 2022 annual report. Coal is the easy part of this story. Renewables? Ummm.
