A week in which I actually do my job

Welcome to the latest Medium Short, a weekly accountability practice highlighting what I am reading, writing, and doing along the unmarked trail towards #IndustrialHealing. By the way, all of my articles are freely available through this link.

Here are two true facts: Weeks where I write and do a lot, I don’t seem to read as much. Also, riding my bicycle is faster than walking and way more fun than the metro (although I can’t read and cycle) (yet).

Reading: confirming my biases?

The Boudica series continues to delight and amaze me each night, seeping into my dreams. I have always felt that dreaming was important. But the way author Manda Scott lays the track here, I sense a much deeper dream dive is nigh. For now, I am enjoying the life of the Eceni some two thousand years ago.

I also believe that movement can be curative. So imagine my delight at reading this piece from John Kruse MD, Can Marathon Running Clear Post-Concussion Syndrome?

I may just be confirming a bunch of firmly held beliefs, but I’m loving the stories and very glad to be out there running, even as the right side of my head chirps from time to time (mostly when I overdo it on the laptop — clearly a sign to get outside and run more, not less).

Writing: did someone say running?

I have been meaning to say more about a 5-day, 5+ marathon run I did a little while ago. So I finally did. In How To Be Ordinary and Do Extraordinary Things I explain how ordinary folk like us can do some pretty extraordinary things, because I sense we’re going to need to do a lot of this, now-ish. I break it down into a bit of a handbook, drawing on the adventures of me and my friend Sarah Climenhaga.
